Job Purpose

A Business Development Manager (BDM) is primarily focused on winning new business and growing client accounts. While consultants and operations managers handle much of the delivery and compliance, the BDM is the driving force behind client acquisition, revenue expansion, and brand visibility.

The role holder identifies and converts opportunities in the market, nurtures key client relationships, and supports long-term growth by combining sales expertise with marketing activity. The BDM ensures that the company is consistently positioned as a trusted, professional, and competitive recruitment partner, while actively contributing to the agency’s reputation and commercial success.

  • Upsell additional services into new departments, job roles, or sites where appropriate.
  • Partner with Operations and Consultants on workforce planning for seasonal peaks and high-volume client requirements.

Marketing & Brand Development

  • Own the planning and delivery of all marketing activity until a Marketing Assistant is appointed.
  • Conduct regular competitor and market research, producing insights to guide sales strategy.
  • Design, write, and distribute targeted email campaigns to prospects and lapsed clients; track open/click rates and refine approach.
  • Write and publish LinkedIn posts, articles, and updates to build both personal and company profile; engage daily with target clients by commenting, sharing, and messaging.

  • Monitor and report on the performance of all marketing channels, providing monthly results and recommendations to directors.
  • Build a library of case studies, testimonials, and service brochures to support sales activity.

CRM & Sales Pipeline Management

  • Enter all leads, prospects, and contacts into the CRM promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain up-to-date records on all sales activity, ensuring full visibility of the pipeline.
  • Use CRM automations and workflows to nurture leads, trigger follow-ups, and streamline client communication.
  • Record client interactions, meeting notes, and proposal status daily in CRM.
  • Produce weekly pipeline and sales activity reports for review with the Sales Director and MD.
