Job Description:

As a Class 1 Driver, you will be an integral part of the logistics team, responsible for the timely and efficient delivery of goods from the Bicester depot to a diverse range of clients across the UK. This role is essential in ensuring that our clientmaintain theirreputation for reliable and high-quality service. Your primary responsibility will be trunking operations, involving long-distance driving between depots or client locations. Although loading and unloading tasks are typically managed by dedicated teams, there will be times when your assistance with these tasks is required to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

As a key representative of this company, you will need to maintain a high level of professionalism on the road, ensuring safe driving practices, adherence to regulations, and excellent customer service at every delivery point. You will also play a role in safeguarding the integrity of the goods being transported, ensuring that they arrive on time and in the best condition.

In this role, you will contribute to our clients commitment to continuous improvement by adhering to company policies and proactively reporting any potential issues, such as vehicle maintenance needs or delays. Additionally, you will be required to stay updated with legislation regarding driving hours, road safety, and health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.

Your responsibilities as a LGV 1 Driver include:

  • Safely operate Class 1 vehicles in accordance with road safety regulations and company guidelines.
  • Transport goods efficiently from site to site.
  • Adhere to assigned schedules, ensuring timely deliveries while demonstrating flexibility as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with the dispatch team to receive instructions and provide updates on delivery progress.
  • Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to guarantee the roadworthiness of the vehicle.
  • Uphold our commitment to exceptional customer service through courteous interactions during deliveries.

The requirements as a LGV 1 Driver include:

  • Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) driving licence with a clean driving record. (Held for minimum of 2 years)
  • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
  • Proven experience as a Class 1 Driver, preferably within a distribution or logistics environment.
  • Flexibility to work long shifts of 12 - 14 hours and varied schedules, including weekends.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Team player mentality with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate.

Shift Times:

Monday to Sunday (Flexible)

5 out of 7 days

On average drivers will complete a 12–14-hour shift.

[Drivers are paid for a minimum of 8 hours regardless of the shift]

PAY RATES:

£15.23 p/h - Monday to Friday

£17.98 p/h - Saturdays

£17.98 p/h – Sundays

Start Dates / Induction Process:

Immediate Starts Available.

An offsite induction will take place where you must complete a set of written tests relating to health and safety & compliance. You will then complete an onsite induction where you must showcase a clear understanding of vehicle checks and compliance checks. Upon completion of these inductions you will then be allocated your shifts.
