Job Description:
As a Container Unloader, you’ll play a hands-on role in the day-to-day operations of a busy distribution centre. Your primary responsibility will be to safely and efficiently unload incoming freight containers, ensuring all goods are handled with care and processed accurately. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a physically active environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of warehouse operations.
You’ll begin your shift by receiving unloading instructions from the warehouse supervisor or team lead, identifying which containers need to be prioritised based on delivery schedules. Each container will require careful manual handling, involving lifting, moving, and sorting a wide range of structured cabling products and associated equipment. The work can be repetitive and physically demanding, but it’s crucial to the timely dispatch of customer orders.
- Throughout the unloading process, you’ll be expected to:
- Break down pallet loads and bulk shipments for stock processing
- Ensure all items are correctly counted, labelled, and recorded
- Organise stock neatly for easy access by warehouse operatives
- Identify and escalate any damaged or missing goods immediately
- Assist with wrapping, strapping, or staging goods for storage or onward movement
In addition to unloading duties, you may be asked to support general warehouse operations during quieter periods. This can include tasks such as stock rotation, sweeping and maintaining clean aisles, replenishing pick locations, and assisting with stock checks.
You’ll be working in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven environment, where teamwork and communication are key. This is a role that offers a strong sense of routine but also rewards initiative and a proactive mindset. Those who show consistency and commitment will have opportunities to transition into permanent positions and grow within the company’s wider logistics and operations teams.
Your responsibilities as a Container Unloader include:
- Unload products from shipping containers accurately and efficiently
- Sort and palletise goods in line with warehouse protocols
- Conduct visual inspections to check for damages or discrepancies
- Work closely with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure seamless stock movement
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Adhere to all health & safety regulations and operational guidelines
The requirements as a Container Unloader include:
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
- Previous experience in a warehouse or unloading role is beneficial but not essential
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Flexibility with working hours and shift patterns
- Safety boots and hi-vis vest required (PPE can be provided)
