Quality Technician required

Works on the most difficult and elusive quality problems, often in collaboration with an engineer. Typically requires extensive training and experience in quality control work with a track record of resourceful troubleshooting

Representative Activities

  • Reads and interprets technical documents, including customer and vendor specifications;

  • Develop and assess Standards and processes to achieve uniform product quality including identification and reduction of process variables and development of QA procedures

  • Performs critical first-piece inspections;

  • Prepares original fixtures or methods for cost-effective minimization of defects;

  • Approves vendor material or operations or checks the finished product;

  • Determines unstated or hidden dimensions from drawings and documents;

  • Maximises the use of ancillary inspection and test equipment to meet defined targets and optimises outputs;

  • Ensures that quality levels are maintained in accordance with QA/QC procedures, and that company documentation is accurately completed;

  • Ensures that housekeeping levels are kept to a high standard;

  • Identifies performance shortfalls, takes and develops corrective action in line with company policies and procedures;

  • Trains new, or underperforming staff, to undertake their roles effectively and evaluate outcomes;

  • Carries out systematic troubleshooting, undertakes process analysis, identifies quality requirements and records quality data using standard Company forms and procedures;

  • Undertakes a seamless shift changeover;

  • Reviews production procedures in line with KPI targets to reduce cost and improve efficiency;

  • Works together with the rest of the technical team highlighting opportunities for improvements in the working environment and improvements in plant efficiency;

  • Ensures all operations are conducted in line with current Health and Safety legislation;

  • Maintains cover for other department members during periods of planned and unplanned absence;

  • Is involved in and undertakes project work as required, reporting progress at departmental meetings.

    Qualifications/Experience

    Detailed knowledge of volume manufacturing processes.

    Good communication skills and reporting abilities.

    Logical problem-solving abilities.

    Understand the principles of Quality Management Systems and Procedures
